Scheurer Bootswerft merges with Fiberfoam Austria
The Swiss-based Scheurer Bootswerft has merged with Fiberfoam Austria AG, and will relocate the mast manufacturer to its HQ in Nidau.
Sailing mast manufacturer Fiberfoam Austria was founded over 30 years ago and specialises in the development and production of carbon masts and composite sail battens, including flat and tapered profiles which are custom designed for modern rigs.
Barbara and Scott Anderson, the owners of Fiberfoam Austria share, commented:
“We are very happy to have found a strong partner in Scheurer Bootswerft AG, which has deep expertise in the composite sector and has been long established in the yachting scene.”
Scheurer Bootswerft operates as a boatyard on Lake Biel in Nidau, manufacturing motorboats and sailing boats for over 50 years, including the A-Cat, the fastest single-handed sailing catamaran. Services include engine mechanics, and GRP / CFRP (carbon composites) work through to complete restoration of wooden boats. Temperature-controlled winter storage is also available.
The company also trains EFZ boat builders and EFZ boat specialists, ensuring there will be a supply of well-trained specialist staff in the future.
Aron Steinmann, Managing Director of Scheurer Bootswerft AG, said:
“We are very much looking forward to the challenge of integrating Fiberfoam.
“With a lot of passion for sailing and Swiss precision, we will manufacture the existing products for you in the usual high quality.”
