Power electronics specialist BrightLoop acquired by ABB
ABB has acquired BrightLoop, a French innovator in advanced power electronics, in a bid to accelerate its electrification strategy in industrial mobility and marine propulsion.
The acquisition will expand ABB’s capabilities in delivering compact, rugged, and intelligent power conversion systems tailored for the most demanding applications across the marine industry and beyond, from electric ferries to offshore vessels. It supports ABB’s strategy to strengthen its position in sustainable transportation and energy transition technologies
BrightLoop, founded in 2010 and based in Paris, France, is a specialist in energy efficiency enhancement by providing industries with universal converters that manage all power flows, aiding their transition to sustainable energy. The company offers a broad portfolio of high- and low-voltage DC/DC converters designed to handle bidirectional power flows with high efficiency, compactness, and scalability.
BrightLoop’s technology was originally developed for the high-performance demands of motorsports before transitioning into other industries, including marine, off-highway transportation, aerospace, hydrogen mobility, and defense.
Its power convertors have no bulky material, no noise, less heat, less consumption, less space, and less hardware, resulting in a software-controlled power flow manager. By leveraging advanced semiconductor technologies such as silicon carbide and gallium nitride, BrightLoop remains at the forefront of high-voltage, high-efficiency power electronics.
BrightLoop employs around 90 people and generated revenues of approximately 16 million euros in 2024.

The integration of BrightLoop’s technology and team will enable ABB to expand its serviceable installed base, enhance its digital capabilities, and accelerate innovation across its electrification portfolio.
ABB plans to retain BrightLoop’s engineering and manufacturing footprint in France, and to invest in scaling its operations globally.
As part of the agreement, ABB will acquire an initial 93% controlling interest in BrightLoop, and expects to acquire the remaining 7% minority interests in 2028. BrightLoop’s management team will remain a key part of the business and will be critical to its success under ABB’s ownership.
The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2025, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
