Italian yacht tenders specialist acquired by Callegari
Callegari RIBs has acquired Geniuss, an Italian company specialising in custom yacht tenders and an outboard engine system, supporting Callegari’s expansion plans.
Geniuss, based in Rome, manufactures yacht tenders and has developed a patented outboard engine mechanism that repositions the outboard engine inside the tender through a unique translation system. The sliding support allows the engine to move forward and inward, reducing the projection normally created by the motor leg behind the transom, optimising onboard space while improving the trim and balance of the mothership carrying the tender.
It also improves weight distribution during launching, recovery and navigation, as well as reducing drag when the tender is towed.
The mechanism is available in both manual and electro-hydraulic versions, which is operated remotely via wireless control.
Following the acquisition, Claudia De Sanctis, Managing Director of Geniuss, will remain in her executive role and will work alongside the Callegari management team to strengthen the brand’s international presence while accelerating its technological and commercial development.
Callegari has bee manufacturing inflatable boats and tenders from its premises in Anagni, Italy, for over 40 years. The company offers a five-year warranty on fabrics and a 24-month warranty on fiberglass as the result of extensive research, development, and rigorous testing, including sea trials, wear-and-tear assessments and checks for resistance to atmospheric and chemical agents.
Its flagship model, the Callegari 48, is constructed from carbon fibre and is 14.94m in length, with master cabin, twin cabin, dinette and bathroom with separate shower, alongside a sun deck.
The acquisition of Geniuss builds on Callegari’s growth strategy and aim to expand into the premium tender sector. The production of its 50-60 tenders annually will be based at Callegari’s manufacturing facility in Anagni. The Geniuss brand will retain its identity as part of the Callegari Group.
The acquisition will also offer the chance to develop a new range of carbon-fibre tenders built using advanced resin infusion technology, whilst offering electric propulsion systems.
