Catamaran specialist BMS acquired by Groupe Beneteau

Groupe Beneteau has acquired BMS, specialists in the maintenance, customisation, and refit of Lagoon catamarans, expanding its offerings in the Mediterranean.
BMS was founded by Pascal Cantiran and Denis Ranjard in 2003 and is a cruising multihull specialist. Based in Canet-en-Roussillon, France, it maintains, customises and refits catamarans from Lagoon, Groupe Beneteau’s catamaran brand.
The company’s 14 employees service more than 50 catamarans each year.
Cantiran and Ranjard will remain at the helm following the acquisition. With this integration, Lagoon is expanding its global network, which already includes seven service centres.
Cantiran said:
“Much more than an alliance, this is the meeting of two complementary visions: Groupe Beneteau’s capacity for innovation and development, and BMS’s local expertise with owners. Together, we will redefine the concept of customer service and take it even further.”
Lagoon is a brand of the Beneteau Group – with more than 7,000 catamarans built, Lagoon offers a range of boats from 38 to 82 feet, with an international network of dealers and services. Launched in 1984, the brand’s catamaran models include the best-selling 13.22m Lagoon 42 Millenium; the 15.35m Lagoon 51 Iconic; and the 23.91m EIGHTY 2.
Clément Himily, Managing Director of Groupe Beneteau’s Sailing Business Unit, commented:
“This acquisition reinforces our ambition to make Lagoon a global benchmark not only in terms of products and responsible innovation, but also in terms of services and customer support.”
Founded in Vendée 140 years ago by Benjamin Bénéteau, Groupe Beneteau has 16 production sites with a workforce of more than 6,500 employees mainly in France, United States, Poland, Italy, Portugal, and Tunisia.
Groupe Beneteau designs and builds boats across nine brands – its boat division offers more than 135 boat models, covering sailing, motoring, monohull and catamaran. The company also offers services covering daily or weekly boat hire, marinas, the digital sector and financing through its Boating Solutions division.
Bruno Thivoyon, Chairman of Groupe Beneteau Executive Board, concluded:
“With the acquisition of BMS, we are taking a new step forward in the development of our service offering. This merger illustrates our desire to support our customers throughout the life of their boat.”
