Aire Valley Marina under new ownership
Aire Valley Marina is under new ownership after recently being purchased by husband and wife Declan and Lucy Colleran, following the retirement of its long-standing owner.
The inland marina in central Leeds offers both residential and leisure moorings. Located on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, facilities include secure gated premises with key fob access and CCTV: on-site parking: toilets, showers and laundry facilities; water supply and access to electric hook-up points.
Additional services available are storage, electricity, fuel, brokerage services and slipway access.
Declan said:
“The marina is a special place, and you can really see how much the residents love being here.
“Some of my favourite memories are of boating with Lucy and our two young children. We keep our own leisure boat in York and also enjoy boating holidays abroad. It’s a big part of our lifestyle, so the opportunity to acquire Aire Valley Marina seemed a perfect fit.”
The marina is now part of Colleran Investments Ltd – a wider investment portfolio operated by Declan and Lucy Colleran alongside DC Environmental and Aquatic Restorations.
DC Environmental is a vegetation and civils contracting company, and Aquatic Restorations is a specialist marine contractor delivering dredging, invasive weed removal and workboat hire services.
Declan continued:
“Through our other companies, we’ve gained extensive experience working across this waterway with a strong focus on sustainability and environmental management.
“We’re bringing that same approach to the marina – protecting what’s already there, while introducing improvements that will enable current and future residents and visitors to enjoy and experience the enhanced space.”
The couple are planning improvements to the grounds, facilities, moorings and further areas of the site over the coming years, whilst protecting the marina’s ethos.
Lucy said:
“We want to preserve the easy-going, relaxed atmosphere and ensure it continues to be a great place to live and be.
“As the previous owners enjoy retirement, Declan and I look forward to building on the marina’s strong foundations and continuing to develop one of Yorkshire’s hidden gems.”
