North Technology Group acquires two sailmakers
North Technology Group (NTG) has acquired two renowned sailmakers, Doyle Sails and Quantum Sails. Both brands will maintain their unique identities and operate independently, ensuring their legacy and competitive edge remain intact.
North Technology Group originated was founded in 1957 when Lowell North launched North Sails in San Diego. It now operates in marine and manufacturing markets worldwide with its 13 brands including North Kiteboarding, Salmon, Southern Spars and Rigpro.

Quantum Sails, with its HQ in Traverse City, Michigan, has been providing sailing products since 1996 and now operates at more than 60 sail lofts around the world, including the UK, Ireland, France and the Netherlands. Its proprietary iQ Technology®system is used to perform virtual testing and complex analysis of aerodynamic performance and determine the ideal structural requirements of each sail.

Quantum Sails will continue to be led by Ed Reynolds and Andrew Scott, and Doug DeVos will remain involved in the business, and as an investor in NTG. Mike Sanderson will continue to lead Doyle Sails. Both companies will continue to manage their own lofts, sales and marketing teams, and product suites. The NTG ownership structure will provide each brand with the freedom, financial security, and resources to improve and offer better experiences for sailors.
